Nepal objects to India-China trade via Lipulekh Pass

Nepalese Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli met Chinese President Xi Jinping on Sunday and lodged a “strong objection” to India-China restarting trade through the Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand.

In a statement, the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing referred to the recent understanding reached between India and China on border trade through Lipulekh Pass, and said that PM Oli had stated that the territory of Lipulekh belonged to Nepal and the Nepal government had registered strong objection on the same. Oli has requested President Xi to support Nepal’s bid for membership in the SCO.
