New Delhi, June 20
India has again thwarted an attempt by the Pakistan-China combine to get an Indian national proscribed as an international terrorist by the UN Security Council.
The proposal for listing Gobinda Patnaik Duggivalasa as terrorist was tabled in the UNSC sanctions committee for his role in allegedly financing and supporting terrorist attacks against Pakistan, including the July 13, 2018, suicide bomb attack in Mastung, Balochistan, which he allegedly planned, coordinated and executed.
Over 160 individuals lost their lives and more than 200 were injured in that attack.
The Pakistani side claimed that he was also involved in a suicide attack on a bus carrying Chinese nationals at Dalbandin, Balochistan, in the same year. The attempt was similar to the ones in 2019 when Pakistan tried to target Indian engineer Venumadhav Dongara, who was working on a project in Afghanistan. Pakistan in 2020 tried to get three other Indians listed by the UNSC.
