Montreal’s Nicholas Johnson, a student majoring in operations research and financial engineering, was named valedictorian of Princeton’s Class of 2020, the university said in a release.
Johnson told CNN that it being Princeton’s first black valedictorian held special significance to him, “particularly given Princeton’s historical ties to the institution of slavery.”
Johnson added that he hoped his achievement motivated and inspired younger black students. — Tribune Web Desk
