Royals gather for 1st Easter under Charles’ reign
London: King Charles and senior British royals gathered at Windsor Castle for their traditional Easter service on Sunday, the first of the new monarch’s reign. Charles was joined by his wife Camilla, the queen consort, and his extended family including son and heir Prince William, his wife Kate and their three children, in a walk from the castle to the nearby St George’s Chapel. Indian-origin leaders vie for Leicester Mayor role
London: Two Indian-origin candidates are lined up to go head-to-head for the post of Leicester Mayor in the local elections coming up in the UK early next month. Conservative Party councillor Sanjay Modhwadia will compete with Rita Patel, former Rushey Mead Labour councillor from Leicester, will run as an independent after announcing to scrap the mayoral role in her bid. Last living Nuremberg prosecutor of Nazis dies
Washington: Benjamin Ferencz, last surviving prosecutor from the Nuremberg trials of Nazis, has passed away at the age of 103, CNN reported on Sunday. Following the end of World War II, a series of trials known as the Nuremberg trials were held in Nuremberg, Germany, between 1945 and 1946. The International Military Tribunal indicted and tried former Nazi leaders for their actions as war criminals. ANI
Avalanche in French Alps kills 4, toll may rise
Paris: An avalanche in the French Alps killed four people on Sunday, France’s interior minister said, calling the death toll a provisional count. The avalanche rolled down the Armancette glacier in Contamines-Montjoie, in the Haute-Savoie region. Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin provided no details in his tweet about the deaths. AP
