Russian soldier rolls out tanks for romantic manoeuvre

Moscow: A Russian soldier has pulled out all the stops to propose to his girlfriend, with his fellow officers manoeuvring 16 tanks to surround the couple in a heart shape. The high-octane romantic stunt was filmed in a video published by the defence ministry on Friday, Valentine’s Day. T-72B3 tanks rolled into position on the Alabino training ground outside Moscow. Lieutenant Denis Kazantsev led his partner Alexandra Kopytova into the centre as she held her hands, the defence ministry’s TV channel Zvezda reported. AFP

S Korean TV ‘reunites’ mother with dead daughter in VR show

seoul: A tearful reunion between a mother and her dead daughter via advanced virtual reality (VR) for a South Korean television has become an online hit, triggering fierce debate about voyeurism and exploitation. The footage began with the girl, who died of leukaemia in 2016, emerging from behind a pile of wood in a park. “Mum, where have you been?” she asks. “I’ve missed you a lot. Have you missed me?” Tears streaming down her face, Jang Ji-sung reached out towards her, wracked with emotion. “I have missed you Na-yeon,” she told the computer-generated six-year-old, her hands moving to stroke her hair. Robot waitress serves up smiles in war-torn Afghanistan

kabul: Afghanistan’s first-ever robot waitress glides up to a table of curious diners in central Kabul and presents them with a plate of French fries. “Thank you very much,” “Timea” says in Dari. Restaurant manager Mohammad Rafi Shirzad says the humanoid robot, imported from Japan and designed to look vaguely like a women wearing a hijab, has already pulled in new customers since it started working last month.Measuring about 150 centimetres in height, the robot performs only rudimentary tasks.
