Pilots, civilians get life term over Turkey 2016 coup bid

Ankara: A court sentenced leaders of a 2016 coup attempt to life in jail on Thursday, convicting hundreds of army officers, pilots and civilians over a failed bid to topple President Tayip Erdogan. More than 250 persons were killed in the July 15, 2016, coup attempt when soldiers commandeered warplanes, helicopters and tanks to take control of institutions and overthrow Erdogan government. Europe signs $102 mn deal to bring space trash home

berlin: The European Space Agency says it is signing a 86 million-euro (Rs102 million) contract with a Swiss start-up company to bring a large piece of orbital trash back to Earth. The agency said Thursday that the deal with ClearSpace SA would lead to the “first active debris removal mission” in 2025, in which a custom-made spacecraft will capture and bring down part of a rocket once used to deliver a satellite into orbit.
