UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres discussed with Bangladesh’s Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus the country’s domestic issues and the Rohingya situation and expressed solidarity with Dhaka’s reform and transition process.

Yunus told Guterres if the political party wanted the “reform package” to be smaller, the national elections could be held in December 2025 but if they agreed to the package to expand, the polls would be staged by June next year.

Guterres travelled to Cox’s Bazaar on a mission of solidarity with the Rohingya refugees. Guterres worried about the impending funding cuts which would dramatically reduce their monthly food rations. He promised to everything he could to stop the funding cuts.
