US diplomat fired over relations with Chinese woman

        The State Department on Wednesday said it had fired a US diplomat over a romantic relationship he admitted having with a Chinese woman alleged to have ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
The dismissal is believed to be the first of its kind for violating a ban on such relationships that was introduced under the Biden administration. Earlier this year, the department imposed a ban on all US government personnel in China, and family members and contractors with security clearances, from any romantic with Chinese citizens.
