US President Donald Trump has appreciated India for releasing an American who was arrested with thousands of dollars near the sensitive Chicken Neck sector in West Bengal.

Trump made the remarks in a tape released at the ongoing Republican Party convention. India has so far not disclosed that it let go of an American pastor who was arrested last October for allegedly carrying $40,000 of foreign currency.

As per the commentary in the tape, the pastor was identified as Bryan Nerren, who was released by India in May. “India responded very well to my request. Appreciate that,” said the US President at a meeting with Americans who had been brought back after suffering imprisonment abroad by countries as well as non-state actors. — TNS
