New Delhi, December 20
In an indication that the US will continue with its focus on Tibet, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Monday appointed Under Secretary Uzra Zeya to serve concurrently as the US Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues, a role she will take on immediately.
Diplomat Robert A. Destro will also continue serving as the Special Coordinator for Tibetan Issues.
Destro was named in October last year to lead US efforts to promote dialogue between China and the Dalai Lama or his representatives; protect the unique religious, cultural, and linguistic identity of Tibetans; and press for their human rights to be respected.
