WPL 2025: Youngest female cricketer Kamalini hits a boundary on the first ball of her debut match
Chandigarh player Kashvee Gautam bagged the prize scalp of cricket superwoman Harmanpreet Kaur while teenage debutant G Kamalini started her T20 career with a boundary of the first ball she faced in Mumbai Indians’ match against Gujrat Giants in Vadodara on Tuesday evening.
Mumbai Indians won the match with five wickets and 23 balls to spare.
G Kamalini, at just 16 years and 213 days old, became the youngest player to debut in the WPL. Playing for Mumbai Indians, she made an immediate impression by hitting a boundary through the off-side on her first ball.
Kashvee Gautam, who plays for Gujarat Giants, has been impressive with her bowling. She picked up crucial wickets, including Harmanpreet Kaur and Amelia Kerr, in their match against Mumbai Indians.
However, the first match didn’t go well for spinner Parunika Sisodia. Also debuting for Mumbai Indians, Parunika Sisodia made her mark as a left-arm spinner. She was part of India's victorious U-19 World Cup-winning side and was named “Player of the Match” in their comprehensive semifinal win against England.
In the previous match, India under-19 cricket world cup winning captain Niki Prasad also made an impressive debut. Representing Delhi Capitals, Niki Prasad played a crucial role in their victory against Mumbai Indians. Her composed 35-run innings provided much-needed stability when wickets were falling.
