Drones sighted near ammo dump; blackout in some areas Tribune News Service Jalandhar, May 12 Two days after a complete lull, drone sighting was reported from some areas around the Suranussi ammunition dump in Jalandhar after which the district administration ordered blackout in some pockets. Power was put off by Punjab State Power Corporation Limited in localities around Suranussi, Jalandhar Cantonment and a few other locations. At 9.15 pm, Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Aggarwal put up a message, "As a precautionary measure, lights have been switched off in some areas around Suranassi, as there have been reports of some drone sightings. We are verifying these. There is no blackout as of now. There is nothing to worry as confirmed by officials of the Armed forces. They are on regular vigil as always." Soon after explosions were heard in Jalandhar, Pandori village of Dasuya and Chhangla village of Mukerian, Deputy Commissioner Hoshiarpur Aashika Jain put up a message for public at 9.30 pm, "As per indications from the Army, we have ordered a partial blackout in the areas of Dasuya and Mukerian. I appeal to the residents of Hoshiarpur to voluntarily keep their lights off and stay safe inside their houses. There is no need to panic over the situation." On sounds heard in Jalandhar, DC Aggarwal said, "We have learnt that some mischievous people have burst crackers. We have been asked to look into it and take strict action."
