OYO, one of India’s leading hospitality platforms, has introduced a new check-in policy that requires unmarried couples to provide proof of their relationship at select locations. This significant shift in policy has raised questions about privacy, cultural norms, and personal freedom, leaving many to wonder if OYO is checking out on its commitment to inclusivity. Effective January 2025, the new policy, which began in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, gives partner hotels the discretion to refuse bookings from unmarried couples based on their judgment.
