Candidates who remained associated with the parties for over 30 years, enjoyed the posts of councillor, mayor, deputy mayor, changed parties just ahead of the elections. Jagdish Raja who was with Congress since 1991 remained a councillor five times, and then mayor. Recently, he joined AAP. Kamaljit Singh Bhatia is another senior leader who was with SAD for 30 years, remained Senior Deputy Mayor as well, joined AAP.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
