Salima Hashmi talks about her father poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz, her journey & desire for peace with India

In conversation with literary critic Mandira Nayar, Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s daughter artist-author Salima Hashmi speaks to The Tribune about the life-long mohabbat between her parents, Faiz’s politics, poetry and life in Pakistan. Born in Delhi, Salima also recalls her earliest memories of Partition, living through the Zia regime and the ‘family business’ of being arrested. An advocate for peace between India and Pakistan, she talks about how technology has allowed people to talk across borders and why her father believed that hopes of peace rest with Pakistani women or rather women the world over, as they always speak the truth despite bearing the brunt of infamy.
