New Delhi, August 29
CM Arvind Kejriwal today said the Delhi State Cancer Institute (DSCI) will get an additional 6.5 acre of land for expansion of facilities. It will enable creation of an additional 1,000 beds earmarked for cancer patients at the Dilshad Garden’s institute.
All pending proposals of the institute for additional equipment will be cleared within 10 days, said Kejriwal. He also announced that soon around 80 per cent of the facilities at the DSCI would be reserved for the residents of Delhi. At present, the city residents get only 40 per cent of the total facility capacity of the hospital.
Kejriwal said a policy be evolved for giving preference to cancer patients from Delhi. DSCI’s governing council may be restructured under the chairmanship of the health minister to resolve all these long-pending issues on priority basis, he added. — TNS
