New Delhi, November 28
The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has issued notice to Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya over the death of a girl due to “unavailability of ICU” facilities in the hospital.
In the notice, DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal has asked the hospital authority to provide reasons for not providing ICU to the girl and not referring her to any other hospital.
The commission has also sought details of persons responsible for death of the girl, details of inquiry conducted in the matter and action taken in it.
It has also sought information about availability of ICU and steps taken by the hospital to do away with the scarcity of ICUs in the hospital by December 6.
“It was reported that the girl was diagnosed with pneumonia and was admitted in the hospital on November 19. Her condition deteriorated on Sunday, November 25. Doctors advised to admit her in ICU, but there was no ICU bed available in the hospital,” stated the commission. “Parents of the girl requested doctors to refer her to any other hospital, but nobody listened to them. The girl died in the late night of November 25,” it added.
