The Delhi Commission for Women will honour around 25 persons, including an auto driver and lady officer from Jharkhand Police, with the DCW Achievement Award on the occasion of International Women's Day.
While the auto driver was instrumental in reuniting a missing 16-year-old girl and her nephew with their family, the Jharkhand Police officer belonging to the anti-human trafficking unit has rescued over 90 girls from trafficking and arrested over 65 traffickers during raids.
She also played an important role in the arrest of wanted trafficker Panna Lal. Besides, other police officials will also be honoured with the DCW Achievement Award at the commission's first annual award function likely to be attended by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi and US Ambassador to India Richard Verma.
The commission will also honour ordinary people who have done extraordinary things and helped women.
