The Delhi government has decided to complete the construction and other works of the East Delhi campus of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University by November 2019.
To achieve the target Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has directed the officers and engineers concerned that they must complete the project before the stipulated date of completion even if they have to slog day and night.
The construction of the campus began last year in August at an estimated cost of Rs 271 crore.
The orders came after Sisodia carried out an on-site inspection of the under-construction campus of GGSIPU in Surajmal Vihar today. “The Dy CM reviewed the progress and has made it clear to all officers that the East campus of the IP University must be ready by November next year,” said an official.
The east campus will have courses like Bachelors in Architecture and Planning, Masters In Architecture and Planning, Bachelors in Design and Masters in Design (2 - 5 years duration).
The East Delhi campus, which will cater help to 1,500 students, will have 45 per cent of the campus space covered by buildings along with 10 per cent of the area dedicated to sports activities and 100 sq meters will be for parking. The campus will have a computer centre-cum-library and hostel facility with a capacity of 270 boys and 180 girls, besides accommodation for staff and other workers as well.
Designed on modern and environment-friendly lines, the campus will be equipped with rain water harvesting and an in-house sewage treatment plant and will have zero sewage output. Every building of the campus will also have enough solar panels installed to ensure that the solar power generation compensates for all of the power consumption - zero net power consumption.
There will be four blocks of the academic building--- Block A will be for Architecture and Planning, Block B for School Of Design, Block C will comprise the Library, Computer Centre and administration and Block D would be the administrative block.
