In a major step towards making health facilities accessible to the poor, the government today announced that free MRI/CT scan facility has been made available in top seven private labs for patients with an annual family income of less than Rs 3 lakh and who have been bona fide residents of the city for a minimum period of three years.
Briefing the media here, Health Minister Satyendar Jain said the decision has been taken in view of the long dates being given for MRI/ CT scan in government hospitals, particularly the GB Pant Hospital and patients being made to wait for their turn up to three years in some cases due to piling up of demand.
The decision was taken in Governing Body of Delhi Arogya Kosh in its 11th GB meeting, which was chaired by the Health Minister.
Financial assistance for MRI/ CT scan will be provided to patients undergoing treatment in ten identified city government hospitals- G.B. Pant Hospital, Lok Nayak Hospital, Guru Tegh Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital, Dr. BSA Hospital, Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital, Janakpuri Super Specialty Hospital, Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences, Delhi State Cancer Institute and Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalaya.
The eligible patients shall be provided cashless MRI/ CT scan from the NABH accredited MRI / CT scan centres after being referred/ authorised by the Medical Superintendent/ Nodal Officer, DAK of the identified government hospitals.
The designated private centres include Dr. Anand's Imaging Centre (G-14, Preet Vihar), Dr. Gulati Imaging Institute (J-16, Hauz Khas Enclave), Focus Imaging and Research Centre (C-10, Green Park Extn.), Ganesh Diagnostics and Imaging Centre (109, Pocket A-1, Sector-8, near Deepali Chowk, Rohini), Mahajan Imaging Pvt. Ltd, Platinum Imaging Centre (9, Dayanand Vihar) and Saral Advanced Diagnostics Pvt. Ltd.
