New Delhi, July 29
KC Mittal has been elected as the new chairperson of the Bar Council of Delhi while the post of the vice-chairperson pocketed by DK Singh and Ved Prakash Sharma is the new representative to the Bar Council of India.
The elections for the new office-bearers of the country's largest bar council were held at 4 pm yesterday and the results were declared subsequently.
Mittal had held the position of chairperson between 2001 and 2003 as well. He was also the president of the Delhi High Court Bar Association between 2007 and 2009.
In the past Sharma was elected as chairperson of the Bar Council of Delhi, while Singh is an entrant to the officer-bearers of Delhi lawyers’ body.
The Delhi Bar Council is an autonomous statutory body formed under the Advocates Act, 1961. — TNS
