A man was charred to death after a XUV 500 car that he was driving caught fire near Madhuban Chowk in West Delhi’s Pitampura area last night.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) Vijayanta Arya said Ajay Gupta, a resident of Alipur, was on his way to the Indira Gandhi International Airport when the incident happened.
“Two fire tenders were rushed to the spot but the vehicle had been completely burnt by the time fire tenders reached the spot,” said chief fire officer Atul Garg.
A fully charred body was recovered from inside the vehicle, the police said.
According to fire officials, they received information about the accident around 10.40 pm that a sports utility vehicle (SUV) Mahindra XUV 500 caught fire and that a man was trapped inside. Two fire tenders were sent to the spot to douse the blaze, the official said. — TNS
