Online DTC bus pass system launched

The government today launched an online bus pass facility which would benefit nine lakh commuters of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).
For now, the facility is available for general category passes and passengers will receive the pass at their doorstep in five working days, said Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot at the inauguration of the services.
With the implementation of online bus pass facility, the commuters now do not need to visit pass section and waste time in long queues for getting the pass, hesaid.
In the next phase of reforms, the department will cover concessional passes, including those for senior citizens and students, Gahlot said. The minister noted that in future ways to integrate the online bus pass system with common mobility card will also be explored.
Gahlot said the DTC annually issues over 25 lakh bus passes, out of which nine lakh are general category passes.
Passengers can apply online by logging on to www.dtcpass.delhi.gov.in and the pass will be delivered at doorstep of the applicant through post within five working days of applying online. For cancellation of pass, applicant will have to return the original bus pass at any of the DTC pass section and the refund amount will be credited to applicant’s bank account. The applicants will have to bear Rs 33 as printing and postal charges besides the pass amount.
Transport Commissioner Varsha Joshi,Managing Director Manoj Kumar and other senior officers of the corporation were present on the occasion. The passes can be obtained both for AC and non-AC buses for general all route, airport express services and Delhi-NCR Airport, Delhi to NCR town— Gurugram, Faridabad, Bahadur Garh and Ghaziabad.
