Property dealer shot dead in Greater Kailash

New Delhi, August 23

In a gang war in Delhi's Greater Kailash, a 32-year-old property dealer involved in several criminal cases was shot dead allegedly by six assailants, the police said today.

Five of the alleged assailants have been arrested after a search operation which involved more than a 100 police officials, one accused is at large, said a senior police official.

The incident was reported last night.

They were identified as Deepak Gautam, Kapil Panwar, Shankar, Shan Mohammad and Birender. Two countrymade pistols and ammunition were recovered from their possession. 

The police said that last night a team of police noticed that the arrested criminals were shooting at a person who was lying on road. 

When the accused saw the police vehicle, they rushed in a Scorpio. They were followed by the police team and were nabbed at Greater Kailash - 1. 

While the police were trying to nab the accused, the victim Raju Ramakant Rao was admitted to Max Hospital by his friends, but he was declared brought dead. 

The police said that the incident took place as a consequence of longstanding rivalry between the two groups. 

All the accused arrested in this case are notorious criminals of Sangam Vihar and Neb Sarai.

The deceased Ramakant Rao is also a dreaded criminal involved in various cases in Ambedkar Nagar,Okhla and Sangam Vihar.

A number of murders have already taken place in the past. 

During interrogation, the accused disclosed that Rohit who happened to be the close associate of the deceased was murdered in 2014 by Ajay, Deepak Pandit and his associates. Thereafter, Sumit and Akash and associates of Ramakant Rao were murdered by Ajay who was leader of the gang of Deepak Pandit. 

In order to take revenge, Ajay was allegedly murdered in Tihar Jail at the instance of Ramakant Rao. And now Rao's murder is being seen as an act of the criminals to settle scores, the police said.
