The newly built emergency centre of Safdarjung Hospital will start functioning from January end. The hospital administration is gearing up for better operation and availability of facilities.
The hospital administration has asked for suggestion from all departmental heads so that the centre provides best medical care to patients.
Safdarjung witnesses over 700 patients daily. The present emergency block has limited facility. Therefore, the Health Ministry came up with new emergency block.
The new block will have 500 beds, in which 220 will be ICU beds, and 12 operation theaters. Apart from this, there will be an ultra-high tech Radiology Block, in which all necessary facilities including MRI, CT Scan, Ultrasound, X-ray will be provided.
Process of buying new test equipments is also in the process.
According to the hospital administration, the emergency centre was to start in December, but due to technical reasons, it could not be started.
Hospital Medical Superintendant Dr AK Rai said, “The ministry has given time to start the emergency centre by the end of January. Therefore, all the departmental heads have been asked to give suggestions as to how the patients could be given better fecilities and senior doctors will be available 24x7.”
