New Delhi, April 17
Two factory workers died after a fire broke out in a crockery factory in Nawada, southwest Delhi.
Preliminary investigation revealed that short-circuit could be the cause of fire, said an official of the Delhi Fire Service (DFS).
A call was received at 10 pm last night about the fire and 12 fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire broke out in a factory known as Mala Bartan Factory where crockery was also manufactured.
The factory is located in the Nawada Industrial area, he said. It took two hours to douse the fire.
By midnight everything was over, he added.
Three men were rescued and taken to a hospital where two of them were declared brought dead, the official said. The deceased were identified as Satender and Arvind, both aged 35 years. They belonged to Bihar, the police said. The condition of Chandan is stated to be serious, he said.
There was a power cut in the area and when the electricity came, there was sparking. There were cartons kept outside the unit that caught fire and in a few seconds, he added. – TNS
