New Delhi, September 29
With the arrest of two accused persons, Manish (29) and Naeem Ansari (37), police have busted a syndicate involved in printing and circulating fake Indian currency notes (FICN) of Rs 500, Rs 200 and Rs 50 denomination. Total Rs 123,550 counterfeit currency notes, stationary and equipment used for printing these notes have been seized from their possession, police said.
On September 29, while conducting vehicle checking on Paharganj's RK Ashram Picket, Chitra Gupta Road, the police signalled an auto to stop. Another person seated in the rear seat, Manish, seemed uncomfortable during police checking that created suspicion.
On his personal search, 32 counterfeit currency notes of Rs 200 were recovered. Manish was subjected to sustained interrogation when he disclosed that he along with his friend Ansari have been residing in a rented house at Hari Nagar here for the last one month from where they have been printing the counterfeit currency by a fine quality professional printer. At Manish's instance, Ansari was also arrested and fake currency notes, papers used for printing them, a colour printer and other articles were recovered. They both were fond of gambling and became friends while gambling at Raghubir Nagar, said DCP Mandeep S Randhawa. — TNS
