Farewell to IAF’s MiG-21 fighter jet
The MiG-21, ending its 62-year service, will be retired on September 26th. It saw action in the 1965 and 1971 wars, and the Kargil conflict, and was involved in the 2019 Balakot strike. The retirement ceremony includes a flypast, simulated dogfights, and skydiving.
The jets are in addition to the 83 such aircraft already ordered by the Ministry of Defence from the HAL
