In the past 20 years, Indian-origin social worker in France Iqbal Singh Bhatti has done yeoman’s service by sending from France the bodies of Indian origin people who die there.

In these years, Bhatti has either arranged to send the bodies to India or has conducted the last rites in France. In all, he had done the service in 371 cases. This has been done by his organisation ‘Aurore Dawn’.

Out of these 371 bodies, 122 were cremated in France while the rest of the bodies have been sent to their families in India. The Indian Embassy in France had borne the expenses of 99 bodies that belonged to people who couldn’t afford it.

Bhatti has received seven gold medals, one award from the Government of India and 11 certificates of honour from various institutions, including one during Covid from the Indian Embassy in France.
