Rs 804 crore projects approved for development, solar push in HaryanaIn a major push for development and sustainability, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini chaired meetings of the High-Powered Purchase Committee (HPPC), Departmental High-Powered Purchase Committee (DHPPC) and High-Powered Works Purchase Committee (HPWPC), approving contracts and purchases worth Rs 804 crore. Negotiations with bidders resulted in savings of over Rs 30 crore. A significant Rs 36-crore project was sanctioned to install rooftop solar power plants on 290 government buildings across the state. “This initiative will promote solar energy and reduce electricity costs,” said the Chief Minister, adding that the state government is actively implementing the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. Under this scheme, the Central Government provides a subsidy of Rs 60,000, while the state government contributes Rs 50,000 for rooftop solar panels of up to 2 kW. Major infrastructure projects that were approved included rehabilitation of the Bhakhra Main Branch at Rs 41 crore, diaphragm wall construction downstream of the Hathnikund Barrage for Rs 146 crore, integration of transmission lines and new 33 KV substations by power utilities at Rs 391 crore. Moreover, purchase of seven mobile toilet vans for police personnel, especially women officers on field duty were also approved. Other proposals which were cleared included 35 vehicles for the Anti-Corruption Bureau and 22 for the Economic and Statistical Affairs Department at a total expenditure of Rs 6.33 crore. Cabinet Ministers Vipul Goel, Ranbir Gangwa and Shruti Choudhry were present at the meetings. “These projects reflect the government’s commitment to development and sustainability,” said the Chief Minister.
