FDI in multi-brand retail a step closer
New Delhi, July 15
The Industry Ministry has proposed to allow foreign direct investment
(FDI) in multi-brand retail trading or in simple terms large-format retail stores like Walmart in a calibrated manner with FDI to the extent of 51 per cent and these could be limited to larger cities with a population of more than 10
lakh.
New SIT chief to probe Ishrat Jahan encounter

The Gujarat High Court today relieved Satyapal Singh as chief of Special Investigation Team probing the Ishrat Jahan encounter case and appointed senior IPS officer JV Ramudu as his successor.

Uttar Pradesh leads rural population tally

Punjab is
now among the most urbanised states in India having more than 35 per
cent of the population living in urban areas, says the Census 2011 data
on Urban and Rural population released today. Other than Punjab, Kerala
and Karnataka have joined the list of Indian states that have more than
35 per cent population living in urban areas.
