Jailbreak accused let off in explosives case

LUDHIANA: Nabha jailbreak case accused Harminder Singh Mintu, an alleged terrorist, was today acquitted in a case of recovery of explosive substances.

Nabha jailbreak case accused Harminder Singh Mintu, an alleged terrorist, was today acquitted in a case of recovery of explosive substances.

Additional Sessions Judge Amarinder Singh Shergill acquitted him finding no convincing evidence against him.

Two prime prosecution witnesses Jagdeep Singh, former sarpanch of Rajoana village and Harbant Singh of the same village had turned hostile.

Besides them, the prosecution had examined 18 official witnesses but could not connect accused with the case.

Harminder Singh Mintu was booked by the Sudhar police on January 25, 2010, following the recovery of explosive substances near the Halwara Air Force Station and under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
