A woman and her grandson were held captive by a gang of robbers in Sector 45 here on Friday. The robbers fled with cash and jewellery worth Rs 2 crore in broad daylight.

The four robbers were captured on CCTV cameras while entering and leaving the house. An FIR was registered at the Sector 40 police station.

Complainant Pradeep Gupta was into handicrafts business. He had gone to work and his mother and son were at home when the incident took place on Friday afternoon.

“We had hired Jagdish alias Raju a few days ago. He was cleaning the front yard when three armed men came and held my mother and son captive. They threatened to kill them and looted them,” said Gupta.

His mother managed to step out of house after they fled. She stopped a biker and called the police and her son.

“We formed a special team to look into the matter and view CCTV footage. We hope that the accused will be nabbed soon,” said Aman Yadav, ACP (Sadar).
