Hisar: A youth working with a transport firm in Gujarat was shot dead by bike-borne assailants in Badanpur village of Jind district on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Sushil, a resident of Danoda village of the district. According to available information, the victim, who came from Gujrat on Thursday, was going to Uchana for some work when he received a call from a person. Villagers said he was found dead with bullet injuries on the outskirts of Badanpur village. District Superintendent of Police (DSP) Amit Bhatia visited the spot and started an investigation into the incident. A murder case has been registered. However, the motive behind the murder is not clear so far. TNS
Shahabad NH-44 lane opened
Kurukshetra: Days after opening a service lane of the Delhi-Ambala National Highway (NH)-44 in Shahabad, the main carriageway of the same stretch was opened on Friday. An official said the main carriageway of the Delhi-Ambala national highway has been opened. The Ambala-Delhi side of the highway is likely to be opened on Saturday. The national highway in Shahabad was completely blocked ahead of the farmers’ call for ‘Delhi March’. TNS
238 take part in athletics meet
Kurukshetra: The annual athletics meet was organised at Arya Kanya Mahavidyalya, Shahabad Markanda, on Thursday. Chief guest Rajiv Prashad, managing director, Shahabad Sugar Mills, said the athletics meet is important for the holistic development of students, fostering values of discipline, teamwork and resilience. Participants in many events showcased their talent during the athletics meet. College principal Dr Aarti Trehan said 238 students participated in various track and field events, including long jump, and 200 meter, 400 meter and 800 meter race categories. Events such as musical chair were also organised. A race for teaching, non-teaching and supportive staff was also organised.
