Amritsar, May 18

A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth. Though the incident occurred on May 5, the family of the girl lodged a complaint with the police only yesterday. The accused has been identified as Ballu, son of Gurdip Singh, a resident of Bille Wali Chowk , Mohkampura. He is yet to be arrested by the police.

A case under Section 376, IPC, and Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act has been registered in this regard.

The mother of the victim stated to the police that her younger daughter had gone missing on May 5 evening and returned only next morning and was not well. She said earlier the victim did not tell anything to the family out of fear of insult and stigma. She had now told her that Ballu had forcibly taken her away and made physical relations with her.

The police authorities said raids were being conducted to arrest the suspect.
