Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur to get piped gas

UNA:BJP state president Satpal Singh Satti today said that three major cities falling in Hamirpur Parliamentary segment, namely Una, Hamirpur and Bilaspur, have been included in the list of 65 cities of the country where the Union government will lay the gas distribution network under Piped Natural Gas distribution programme.

BJP state president Satpal Singh Satti today said that three major cities falling in Hamirpur Parliamentary segment, namely Una, Hamirpur and Bilaspur, have been included in the list of 65 cities of the country where the Union government will lay the gas distribution network under Piped Natural Gas distribution programme.

Addressing media persons here, Satti said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would give green flag to the scheme on November 22, simultaneously at all 65 centres through video conferencing. He said a parliamentary segment level programme would be organized at Indira Stadium in Una on November 22 where PM’s speech would be telecast live. He said Union Health minister JP Nadda and Hamirpur Lok Sabha MP Anurag Thakur would also be present at the programme in Una.

Satti informed that the gas pipeline has already reached Nangal fom Rupnagar and work to extend it till Una was under way. He said natural gas was 15 per cent cheaper than LPG and it will be always available to the users through the piped network. 

Besides, he said, once the natural gas pipeline reached Una, owners will have the option to fit their vehicles with compressed natural gas kits since the fuel will be made available at the gas stations in the district. He added that CNG was 40 per cent cheaper fuel than petrol.

The BJP state president said a sum of Rs 48.9 crore had been sanctioned by the state government for the construction of the state level vocational rehabilitation centre building in Una city, adding that the funds had been received and the land earmarked. 

He said a district secretariat building estimated to cost Rs 35 crores was also awaiting foundation stone in the city.
