The unscheduled power cuts have become the order of the day in residential as well as industrial areas. For the last many days residents have been upset with the erratic supply of power in almost every locality.

Reportedly, power cut woes were also the maximum. Parampreet Singh, the operator at the PSPCL complaint cell, for the Maqsudan locality said on daily basis, 300 complaints and enquiries were coming from the residents and 100 complaints on power cuts and 30 on supply damage were received till Thursday evening.

Singh also said the problem was arising due to the unsteady supply of power from the main supply station of the district. Although not sure about the reason, Nirmal Singh the in-charge at the sub-station for Maqsudan and other nearby areas said, the fault at transformers and supply lines might be hindering the consistent flow of electricity.

Meanwhile, the power cut has become the talk of the town these days. Residents also took to social media to express their annoyance. Tanuj Chamber rued, “The city is already in the grip of heat wave, therefore, something serious needs to be done about these intermittent power cuts during such a hot weather, especially during nights. He further said, “Due to the erratic power supply, even generators aren’t working properly.”

Darshan Singh another resident of Seth Hukum Chand Colony said, “Despite paying so many charges, why can’t we get continuous supply of electricity? This frequent and intermittent power for the past 3-4 days was troubling a lot. Even the invertors have stopped functioning. Can anything be done about it?” he asked.

On Wednesday night as well, several parts of the city had to suffer power outages which lasted for about an hour to two hours. PSPCL claimed that automatic fault would be detected, but on the contrary, their linemen did’nt even have ladders, multi-meters and other tools, said Pankaj Ahuja.
