Make state open defecation-free: CM

CHANDIGARH: Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, while chairing a review meeting on the ongoing schemes, today directed the Water Supply and Sanitation Department to ensure that the state is open defecation-free (ODF) by March 31.

Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, while chairing a review meeting on the ongoing schemes, today directed the Water Supply and Sanitation Department to ensure that the state is open defecation-free (ODF) by March 31.

The state had already achieved the target in 13 districts, the Chief Minister said. The department needed to take steps to ensure clean drinking water for all, besides 24x7 water supply in 100 more villages annually.

Rural Development Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa informed that online payment of water supply and sewerage bills would be launched on January 26.
