Kolkata turns pink for Team India’s debut, Sourav Ganguly shares pictures

CHANDIGARH/KOLKATA: Ahead of Team India''s first-ever pink ball Test, Sourav Ganguly, the president of BCCI, was left surprised by the sight of everything else also turning pink in Kolkata.

Ahead of Team India's first-ever pink ball Test, Sourav Ganguly, the president of Board of Control for Cricket in India was left surprised by the sight of everything else also turning pink in Kolkata. 

In a series of Tweets, the BCCI President shared his excitement. 

"Sweets go pink in Kolkata," Ganguly captioned the picture of pink ‘Sandesh’—a dessert originating from the Bengal region. 

The former India captain followed it up with another picture of pink sweets specially made to celebrate India's debut in the day-night Test cricket.

Earlier, Ganguly shared pictures of the town turning pink with lights. He wrote: "The city turns pink on the pink Test." 

Ganguly also shared a video of his hometown, which looks to be all set for the day as many high rises have been lit in the pink colour. "Well BCCI and Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB)... look forward to 5 days @JayShah," he captioned the video.

The iconic Eden Gardens is all set to witness the second Test against Bangladesh on Friday. 

According to BCCI President the second Test of the two-match series will be one to remember.

"Sachin (Tendulkar), (Sunil) Gavaskar, Kapil (Dev), Rahul (Dravid), Anil (Kumble) everyone will be there. In tea time, there will be carts going around the stadium with former captains in them," Ganguly said here on Wednesday. 

"There is a musical performance at tea time and at the end of the day there is a felicitation. Both the teams, former captains, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Chief Minister will be there. 

"Runa Laila will be performing, Jeet Ganguly will be performing. I am very excited. Just see the excitement, four days are already sold out in a Test match," he added. — With PTI
