Governor praises firm’s contribution

Shimla: Governor Bandaru Dattatreya has appreciated the contribution of Scott Edil Pharmacia Unit at Baddi in Solan district to the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic; the company has been producing about 20 lakh bottles of sanitiser a month and distributing it free of cost through various NGOs and social activists. The Governor, in a letter to its Managing Director Sanjeev Aggarwal, said that this noble act would reinforce the trust of people in humanity. TNS

School body writes to CM on fee payment

Nurpur: The HP Independent Schools’ Association has appealed to Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur to direct parents to pay all outstanding dues and fee of their wards studying in private schools. In a memorandum submitted to the CM, it said the private schools, on the order of the government, had kept on hold the fee, transport and annual charges till April 30. The financial viability of the private schools was in peril if the outstanding dues were not paid by the parents. OC

Fisherman feared drowned

Nurpur: Ramesh, alias Guddu, a fisherman from Jagnoli village in Fatehpur, was feared to have drowned in the Pong Dam lake after his boat capsized Friday evening. He along with another fisherman had gone to the lake. While spreading the fishing net, the boat capsized and Ramesh was feared to have drowned. The second fisherman, however, managed to swim to safety. Guddu’s body could not be traced. OC

Training to Mandi taxi drivers to fight Covid

Mandi: The district administration is imparting training to taxi drivers on protection from Covid-19 while delivering services. DC Rugved Thakur said, “We had earlier imparted training to those who were engaged in the supply of essential items in the district. Now, we want to train taxi drivers. They will have to sanitise their vehicles frequently after transporting passengers, maintain hygiene and follow directions strictly”. TNS
