Mohali, January 10

Monika Lamba, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Mohali, on Thursday said law students had been working as a bridge between the DLSA and jail inmates.

She said law students visited jails, met inmates there and helped them in getting proper representation in courts. It is to be noted that a number of law students have been doing internship under the guidance of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority since January 2. Under the programme, these students have been visiting jails in Patiala, Nabha and Ropar and interacting with the convicts there.

“The students not only guide the inmates about their legal rights, but also help them in filling various forms for getting legal aid. They give special attention to those inmates who are not represented by anyone,” Monika said. — TNS
