An intruder was killed in a mine blast along the Line of Control (LoC) while making an attempt to enter the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch district in the wee hours of Monday.

Taking advantage of the inclement weather, a group of terrorists made an unsuccessful attempt to infiltrate into the Indian territory from the Pritampura forward area in the Krishna Ghati sector, sources said.

“The movement of the intruder(s) was not noticed due to darkness, but as he moved forward he stepped up on a mine, which was laid to prevent the entry of anti-national elements, and was killed on the spot in the blast,” they added.

According to reports, the body of the intruder couldn’t be retrieved till 3 pm due to the bad weather and firing by Pakistani soldiers.

Initially, a report of encounter between the Indian soldiers and terrorists was reported in which two others were also injured.

When contacted, Lt Col Devender Anand, PRO, defence, said, “Just the report of a mine blast in the Krishna Ghati sector was confirmed yet.”
