Change Kashmir policy, Centre urged

Srinagar: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee president GA Mir on Tuesday urged the Centre to change its Kashmir policy and ‘move ahead with full sincerity to restore calm in the trouble-torn Valley’.

Srinagar: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee president GA Mir on Tuesday urged the Centre to change its Kashmir policy and ‘move ahead with full sincerity to restore calm in the trouble-torn Valley’. Mir said the Centre’s ‘silence’ on the Kashmir situation was ‘criminal’. Asserting that the Centre lacked any policy regarding the Kashmir situation, he questioned how long the bloodshed in the Valley would continue? Mir urged that the Centre must stop misleading the nation on the Kashmir situation, which he said was ‘extremely volatile’. “The hostile approach of the Centre has badly damaged the socio-political scenario in J&K. As a result the space for mainstream politics has diminished considerably, which is a matter of serious concern,” he said. TNS
