Pact with Alberta for skill development soon

AMRITSAR: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kamaldeep Singh Sangha, while hosting a delegation of immigration experts from Canada on Thursday, said the state government would sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Alberta province, Canada, to ensure skill development of immigrants.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kamaldeep Singh Sangha, while hosting a delegation of immigration experts from Canada on Thursday, said the state government would sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Alberta province, Canada, to ensure skill development of immigrants. The team visited CIPET campus, multi skill development centre, employment bureau and other offices to interact with youth registered for immigration.

Leading the Canadian delegation, Christopher Kerr, Immigration Head, Government of Canada, and Rahul Sharma, Managing Director, Government of Alberta, also evaluated the working of these skill development centres and programmes being offered by them.

The DC informed that under the MoU, skilled youth would be provided support to migrate to Canada for better prospects. “This will save them from the clutches of illegal agents. We will try to facilitate the corporate and business houses in Canada, who are looking for skilled professionals and bring them together on a platform so that employment opportunities can be sought.”

The district employment bureau is also going to organise a seminar in January for youngsters, who wish to study overseas and provide professional guidance in this regard.

Sandeep Singh Kaura, consultant, skill development commission, also informed that the purpose of the all these efforts was to save the youngsters from fraudster agents and illegal immigration racket.
