The mathematics department (PG) of Baba Farid College organised an extension lecture on research methodology for its second year students on the campus. The lecture was addressed by Dr Amanpreet Singh, associate professor, SGTB Khalsa College, Sri Anandpur Sahib. He explained all concepts of the research methodology that boost the knowledge of students related to research and various fellowships so they can get themselves enrolled under PhD. In the end of the lecture, students interacted with Dr Amanpreet Singh. The department of science of the college organised a competition on “Math p Rates” for its students. This competition included Mathdoku, puzzles, riddles and motivational videos, which were based on the concepts of mathematics. Simranjeet Kaur and Diksha Rani, students of BSc-III; and Rajwinder Kaur and Manmeet Kaur, students of BSc –I; won a quiz contest on mathematics. Similarly, Neena Kaur of BSc-III and Gagandeep Singh of BSc –I, won the Mathdoku comeptition.

Debate competition

A debate competition was organised at the SSD Women’s Institute of Technology (SSDWIT) in Bathinda on Thursday. Close to 40 students participated in the competition. The topic of the debate competition for the final round was “Intelligence is based on environmental factors not on genetic factors”. All participants tried to put their arguments forward firmly. The judge of the competition was Dr Anu Malhotra, principal, SSD Girls College of Education. Addressing the participants, she said, “Preparing the students for debate is a must, especially for girls, so that they can learn how to present their views in front of others in the life”. The event was successfully organised under the guidance of Somnath Baghla, Ajay Gupta, Vikas Kumar Garg, Manisha Bhatnagar, Samridhi and Kanupriya. — TNS
