A pall of gloom descended on Rampura village in the Maur sub-division following the death of Puneet Kaur (28), who was killed in an accident near the Yadavindra Gardens, Pinjore, yesterday, as her hair got entangled in a go-kart while taking a ride.

Her body was brought to the village this evening after post-mortem in Chandigarh.

Her last rites were performed at the village’s cremation ground at 5.15 pm. According to her kin, Puneet first visited Ludhiana for the wedding of her husband Amardeep Singh’s relative along with their two-year-old son Ranbir Singh and mother-in-law Karamjeet Kaur.

From Ludhiana the family went to Chandigarh and Pinjore, where the accident occurred. Puneet originally hailed from Sriganganagar in Rajasthan and had got married at Rampura three years ago.

Incidentally, the family was busy making arrangements to celebrate the birthday of her son and had booked a palace for February 17.

The deceased’s husband belongs to a family with farming background and is a social worker at the Maur sub-division. Residents of nearby villages also turned up for her last rites.
