Pbi University renames its botanical gardens

Punjabi University, Patiala, has renamed its botanical gardens as SS Bir Botanic Gardens. Prof BS Ghuman, Vice-Chancellor (VC), Punjabi University, presided over a function organised by the department, in this regard. 

Parminder Kaur Bir, wife of Professor SS Bir was the guest of honour. Prof Munruchi Kaur, Head, Department of Botany, highlighted the contributions made by Prof Bir in establishment and development of the department and the botanic gardens and bringing these to international standards. Prof JIS Khattar, Dean, Life Sciences, Punjabi University, Patiala, lauded the hard work being put in by members of the department. Later, the VC also inaugurated the Aquatic Section of  the botanic gardens.
