The Congress factions led by former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda and State Congress chief Ashok Tanwar have announced separate programmes aimed at bringing harmony in view of the tattered social fabric in the state after the violent Jat agitation.

Hooda will address ‘Sadbhavna rallies’ at Balsamand in Hisar on April 3 and at Faridabad on April 9, according to his former additional media adviser Sunil Parti. The April 3 and April 9 rallies are being

organised by senior party leader Bir Singh Dalal and Digaon MLA Lalit Nagar, respectively, Parti said.

Tanwar’s ‘Sadbhavna Yatra’, however, will focus on the SYL issue, besides spreading message of harmony. Tanwar said today that he would launch the first phase of his ‘sadbhavna yatra’ of Haryana from Faridabad on April 6.

“From Fardabad, the yatra will go to Palwal, Mewat, Gurgaon, Rewari, Kosli, Mahindergarh, Bhiwani, Kalanaur, Beri, Jhajjar and culminate at Rohtak on April 10 to end its first phase. The second phase for covering the remaining districts will be started after the end of the wheat harvesting season,” Tanwar said.

Tanwar alleged that the violence was engineered by the BJP under a well-planned strategy to divide people on caste lines.Tanwar also hit out at the SAD-BJP government in Punjab, saying that it had hit the federal structure of the country by de-notifying land for the SYL canal. He said the Congress would now take this matter to the people’s court.
