KARNAL: Enraged over the remarks of Finance Minister Capt. Abhimanyu in a cabinet meeting against them, several guest teachers took out a procession in the city and burnt the effigy of the Minister at Committee chowk here this evening.

Enraged over the remarks of Finance Minister Capt. Abhimanyu in a cabinet meeting against them, several guest teachers took out a procession in the city and burnt the effigy of the Minister at Committee chowk here this evening.

The protestors raised slogans against the government and police for lodging an FIR against Rajinder Shastri and other guest teachers.

Earlier, they assembled at Karan Park and condemned the cane charging on their members by the police. Jarnail Singh, a leader of the Guest Teachers Union, alleged that they were being harassed by the police and the government. To show their resentment, they had been protesting all over the state. They would burn the effigies of Agriculture Minister OP Dhankar on Thursday and would gherao Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma in Mahendergarh on May 31.
