AMRITSAR: Voice of Amritsar (VOA), a city NGO, concluded its ‘Joy of Giving’ campaign with distribution of warm clothes among students of Government Elementary School, Ludhar, Amritsar, on Sunday morning.

Voice of Amritsar (VOA), a city NGO, concluded its ‘Joy of Giving’ campaign with distribution of warm clothes among students of Government Elementary School, Ludhar, Amritsar, on Sunday morning. The NGO also launched their next drive meant to upgrade government schools by ensuring smart classes for students.

Under the campaign, over 1,500 students were given woollen clothes, kits to students of government school. “The campaign was meant to help students to beat the cold. The funds provided by the government are meager. The amount is not sufficient for the students. Hence, the campaign began few months back. Among our many volunteers, Harmeet Singh Gem, Gaurav Arora, Shah Ahitsham Khan, have played an instrumental role in this campaign,” said Seenu Arora, president.

Talking about the new drive, VOA founder president Dr Rakesh Sharma said, “We want to upgrade the infrastructure of schools in terms of making them smart. We shall be providing LCD screens and projectors to some of the schools to begin. We want to give experience of smart education to the students of such schools, Khalsa College governing council honorary secretary and social activist Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina also hailed the NGO for their initiatives of social awareness, environment protection and education impetus to the rural folks.
